1,963 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by the Department of Health today.
500 people are being treated in hospitals with the virus nationally, up 30 on yesterday, with 93 people now receiving intensive care.
The Chief Medical Officer has said that he’s “conscious” parents will be worried about high rates of Covid-19 among children aged 5-12.
But Dr Tony Holohan claims the evidence says that “child-to-child transmission is uncommon in schools” – and that illness in that age cohort are usually mild.
