The INMO says the number of patients on trolleys in hospitals in the Republic of Ireland is double what it was this time last year.
The INMO says there’s been “record overcrowding” this month at Letterkenny University Hospital, as well as in Tralee, Castlebar and in Cork.
Letterkenny University Hospital was the second-most overcrowded in the state in October, with a total of 943 people forced to wait on trolleys there this month – only behind University Hospital Limerick nationally.
The union’s general secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha says that it’s a clear sign of a “difficult winter ahead” for the health service.
