Border Communities Against Brexit has described this latest move as an utterly reckless attack on the Protocol and an attack on every person living on the island of Ireland as well as an attack on the Good Friday Agreement.
The campaign group says recent data shows that the Protocol has positively improved the economy with a 61% increase in trade between North and South.
They are calling on the EU and the United States in the event Article 16 is invoked, to take a firm and solid stance against the British Government.
