Finance minister Paschal Donohue insists NPHET members won’t be “prevented or stopped” from speaking publicly on science or public health by the Government Press Office.
It’s after the cabinet ordered that all media appearances by advisors and officials on the crisis committee be cleared by its media advisors.
Minister Donohue says it’s simply an effort to make sure official communications are “co-ordinated”.
