Pipe bomb recovered following Derry alert

A partially exploded pipe bomb has been recovered following a security alert in Derry yesterday.

The viable device was reported in the garden of a property at 2.10pm in the Lincoln Court area of the city.

A number of nearby homes were evacuated, with residents able to return yesterday evening.

Police described the partial explosion as a “reckless attack” which could have had “devastating” consequences.

A woman who was in the home was not injured.
