Ireland voted second worst country in Europe in for maternity leave

Ireland was voted the second worst country in Europe in for maternity leave, with a weekly payment of €245 to new mothers for 26 weeks from the State.

Economic Equality Coordinator with the National Women’s Council Sandra McCullagh says Ireland’s the combination of poor maternity leave and un-affordable childcare force lone parents out of the labour market and dependent of social welfare.
