Increase in new cars bought in Donegal during July 2022

The number of new car purchased in Donegal in July has increased by over two percent in 2022.

2,134 new car were purchased in July 2022 compared to 2,085 in 2021, a rise of 49 new vehicles.

Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry found almost 22 thousand cars were registered nationally in July, down 17.3 percent on the same month last year.

The drop has been blamed on supply issues experienced by retailers and the huge rise in inflation.

However, electric vehicle sales were up 44.5 percent, with 2,783 newly registered last month.
