Mark English has qualified for the 800m final at the European Championships in Munich.
The Finn Valley man finished third in this evenings second semi final to gain an automatic place in Sunday evening’s medal race.
Having won his heat in 1:47.54 on Thursday,the Letterkenny native crossed the line in the semi in 1:46.66.
Mark in no stranger to major championship finals having previously medalled in both outdoor and indoor Europeans.
Eksewhere, Ciara Mageean won Ireland’s first medal at this year’s Championships.
She took silver in the women’s 15-hundred metres, running a season’s best time of 4-minutes, 2-point-five-six seconds.
Mageean was just over a second behind the gold of Laura Muir.
