Public sector pay talks start again today

Public sector pay talks resume at the Workplace Relations Commission today after falling apart earlier in the summer.

At that stage unions rejected a 5% wage hike, saying it would not combat the extra food, fuel and housing prices caused by the cost-of-living crisis.

The Government’s indicated it is prepared to increase its wage offer in order to avoid a series of potential strikes by the likes of teachers and nurses, however it’s also called for “flexibility” from workers’ reps.
