28% fall in CAMHS waiting list in Donegal

The HSE says while it is mindful of the challenges facing the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, it is making progress.

At the end of June this year, there was one young person in the south of the county waiting more than a year for an initial assessment by the Donegal Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This compares to zero for the same period last year.

Meanwhile, there were 118 young people waiting less than 12 months for an initial assessment. This compares to 165 for the same period last year, a fall of 28%.

Across the whole of the Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo region, there was a total of 417 young people waiting for an initial assessment at the end of June, compared to 422 for the same period in 2021.

The HSE says Donegal CAMHS continues to deliver and improve upon high quality services, despite all the challenges that the service faces.
