A Donegal TD says he’s been trying to advance a proposal to address the shortage of doctors in the country, but the Minister for Health won’t even respond to his emails.
Deputy Thomas Pringle is urging Steven Donnelly to consider recruiting doctors from Cuba, and has had positive discussions about the proposal with the Cuban Ambassador.
Deputy Pringle is convenor of the Cuba/Ireland parliamentary friendship group in the Oireachtas, and raised the issue during Leaders’ Questions in the Dáil earlier this year.
He believes recognition of qualifications should not be an issue, and says what’s needed now is for the government to act…………
