Opposition parties call for more energy supports in Budget 2023

With the Government’s approval rating slipping again, Sinn Fein are proposing that a cap on electricity prices be introduced in the Budget.

Sinn Fein TD Darren O’Rourke says the scale of the energy crisis will increase over the winter months unless the Government directly intervenes.

He says his party is putting forward proposals to help the most vulnerable:

Labour Party leader Ivana Bacik says energy credit payments don’t go far enough to help families to keep the lights on this winter.

She says other targeted measures would go further to help families and households.
