Car destroyed in arson attack in Derry

A car has been destroyed in an arson attack in Derry.

It’s believed two men went to an address in Brickfield Court shortly before 10pm last night and set the parked car of fire before fleeing the scene.

Inspector Tim McCullough says how the car was set on fire is under investigation, as is the motive for what he says is a reckless attack.

It is believed that one of the suspects may have sustained burn injuries to his arm.

Enquiries also suggest the two male suspects ran off towards Blighs Lane after setting the car on fire, and got into a vehicle, possibly a Silver Peugeot 207, and drove off.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and has information about the incident, as well as anyone who may have captured footage of what happened on their dashcam and anyone who knows who was involved in this attack to contact them on 101.
