Pauric McGarvey’s co-option onto DCC will not take place today

Donegal will not be getting a new councillor today.

It had been thought that Pauric McGarvey would be co-opted onto the council today to replace his uncle, outgoing Councillor Ian McGarvey.

However, while Ian McGarvey outlined his intentions several weeks ago, his formal resignation was only lodged with the council last week, and the regulations state a member cannot be replaced until 14 days after their retirement.

It’s been proposed that a special meeting take place on February 13th to facilitate Mr McGarvey’s co-option.
