Letterkenny Athletic Club is getting ready to roll out its next Fit4Life programme in April.

The first session of the new programme takes place at the Danny McDaid Track at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny on Monday, April 17th at 5.45 pm.

The initiative, which will be run in association with Donegal Sports Partnership, will cater for all levels of walkers and joggers – from the complete beginner to regular walkers and runners.
Speaking about the programme, Letterkenny AC Chairman, Raymond Birch, said: “Getting the Fit4Life sessions up and running again is something the club was keen to do, and we feel that now is the right time to get things going.”

“The aim of the programme is to give people an opportunity to improve their fitness and wellness in a structured way with the assistance of qualified coaches within the club. Participants will have a safe environment to walk and run in, with the emphasis very much on having fun.”

“In our last Fit4Life programme, we attracted a wide range of people – we had people who used to run regularly when they were younger who were keen to active again, while we also had others with no experience but who wanted to get walking and running in a group setting,” the chairman added.

“When I floated the idea of getting the Fit4Life going again, I got a great response from club members. We have pulled together a team of six coaches who will be on hand to help. These are people who have been with the club a long time. They have plenty of experience and are keen to help others,” he commented.

“Our message is simple – come along, give it a go and have a bit of fun. Everyone will have company, and everyone will have an opportunity to be active and train at an appropriate level. Having company and good guidance will make the experience that much better and much more enjoyable.”

Welcoming the return of Letterkenny AC’s Fit4Life programme, Donegal Sports Partnership Co-Ordinator, Myles Sweeney, said: “I wish the programme well and we are glad to see the relaunch of what was rolled out previously by Letterkenny AC.

“It takes time and effort to pull this type of programme together and it’s great to see Letterkenny AC stepping up and leading the way in terms of broadening its reach and participation.”
