Bishop of Raphoe says he understands how painful it is to lose a much-loved priest

The Bishop of Raphoe says he understands the pain of the parishioners in Kilmacrenan who are set to lose a popular priest.

As part of a number of clerical changes announced by Bishop Alan McGuckian in the diocese, Parish Priest Fr Paddy Dunne is due to take up the role of Parish Priest of Kilbarron on June 24th.

When the move was first announced, there was huge disappointment in the Kilmacrenan area with a petition set up in a bid to retain Fr Dunne with a candlelit vigil also planned for Friday evening.

Bishop McGuckian told today’s Nine til Noon Show that the response from the community is testament to the relationship between Fr Dunne and them:
