Expansion of free contraception and GP visit card roll out announced today

Free contraception is being made available for women in the 17 to 30-year-old age group.

The announcement has come from the Health Minister Stephen Donnelly today.

The scheme, which came into effect in September 2022, was only available to women up to 25, then further expanded to include 26-year-olds in January this year.

According to Minister Donnelly, a medical card expansion is also coming into effect:
