Atlantic Technological University has welcomed over 4,630 new full-time first year students across its eight campuses in Donegal, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo.
This brings the total student body to around 24,000.
There are 1,137 new first year students joining ATU Donegal, making up a total of over 24.5% of the new starts across all of the campuses.
ATU say there was a rise of 5% in CAO applications to the universities, with an increased demand for places on programmes across Science, Technology and Engineering with Health Sciences, Computing and Built Environment programmes also seeing increased interest levels.
An induction programme is in place to ensure a successful transition into university life.
This includes supports and tools to help students thrive both academically and personally.
Dr Orla Flynn, President of ATU, welcomed the students in a statement, encouraging the incoming cohort to make the most of their time with the university.
