Attack on asylum seekers in Donegal leads to calls for Government to ensure their safety

The attack on two asylum seekers in West Donegal in recent days has led to calls for the Government to urgently intervene to ensure those seeking refuge in Ireland in state-provided accommodation are safe.

A centre recently opened in West Donegal with those living there physically threatened and threats made to target the property.

Some local public representatives have also been threatened.

In the Dail, Deputy Paul Murphy pressed Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to outline what steps were being taken to ensure the safety of people integrating into communities:
