The EPA has called on Uisce Eireann to provide clear plans to prevent pollution at some of Ireland’s most important water bodies.
In its latest Urban Waste Water Treatment report, the agency says less than half of waste water here is treated to European standards with huge issues recorded in Dublin and Cork.
Halfway through this year in, Donegal there were seven areas recorded discharging raw sewage because their public sewers were not connected to treatment plants.
These were Burtonport, Coolatee, Falcarragh, Kerrykeel, Moville, Ramelton and Rathmullan.
Works are planned to get underway to resolve the issues from this year until 2028, some of which you just heard.
