Challenges in securing staff for LUH radiology department

New research from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland has highlighted continued shortcomings in fracture prevention services across Ireland, as well as the urgent need to adequately fund and resource the implementation of a National Fracture Liaison Service.

Its the second annual report for the Irish Fracture Liaison Service Database.

When looking at the Fraction Liaison Service in Letterkenny University Hospital, it was found that the challenges faced include securing additional staff in the radiology department to tackle the DXA waiting list and follow up patients who have commenced osteoporosis treatments.

However this the report notes that this is an area the new nurse working in the service would like to develop.
