Expansion of free schoolbooks scheme will devastate members – Bookselling Ireland

Bookselling Ireland says the expansion of the free schoolbooks scheme will have a devastating effect on its members.

Two bookshops in Donegal are set to close their doors on Monday, citing the book scheme and rising costs as the reason why.

The government announced the move as part of the Budget earlier this month.

The Free School Books Scheme is set to be expanded to secondary schools to include first, second, and third-year students from next year:
