As schools return today, Gardai in Donegal are urging motorists to be mindful on the roads.
Drivers are asked to slow down in the area of bus collection/drop off points and in the vicinity of schools.
Gardai are advising to always expect the unexpected and be prepared to stop suddenly and to leave extra time for essential journeys to allow for extra school related traffic.
They’re appealing to motorists also to not park in an illegal manner while dropping off or picking up at schools, to not block driveways or park on footpaths to avoid restricting emergency access or forcing others to venture out onto the road which could be very dangerous.
Parents and guardians are also being urged to talk to their children about safety on the road.
