Major new laws regulating migration in the EU have been passed.
The EU Pact on Migration and Asylum was approved by MEPs in the last few minutes.
It creates common, EU-wide procedures for dealing with migration – but has faced criticism from those who say it violates asylum seekers’ rights and infringes on member states’ sovereignty.
