Concerns over future of Harland and Wolff as British Government rejects major loan guarantee

There are mounting concerns over the future of Harland and Wolff in Belfast.

The British government has confirmed it has rejected a request from the shipbuilder for a major loan guarantee.

The company – which built the Titanic – is already in urgent talks with its main lender.

The GMB trade union says these are “worrying times for workers and their families”.
