Gardaí are reminding Learner Permit drivers that under the ‘Clancy Amendment’ they must be accompanied by a qualified driver.
Gardaí in Letterkenny seized a car on Friday after they had detected it being driven in excess of the speed limit.
It transpired that the driver of the car had a provisional licence and they were unaccompanied.
The car was seized and a number of Fixed Charge Penalty Notices will now be issued.
Gardaí are asking all drivers to keep an eye on their speed and to slow down.
