Claire Hanna is on course to become the new leader of the SDLP.
Following the close of nominations in the leadership contest, the MP for Belfast South and Mid Down, received the required number of nominations.
Foyle MP Colum Eastwood was party leader for 9 years and last week announced his resignation from the role.
Party members will ratify the decision at the SDLP party conference on October 5th.
