Calls for pharmacists to substitute medicines to tackle shortages

There’s a call on the HSE to allow pharmacists to substitute medicines to tackle shortages.

Legislation has been passed, so they don’t have to refer back to a practicing doctor, but it hasn’t been enacted yet.

Meath Pharmacist Kathy Maher says pharmacists need to be able to get treatment to patients quickly but it’s taking too long.
