Government is getting it very wrong on downgrades – Beard

Donegal County Council’s Defective Block Committee has been told that the downgrading of applications is a serious problem that’s going to come back to bite the government in the future. It’s after Cllr Declan Meehan was told at the meeting that 35% of applications have been downgraded by the housing agency.

100% redress Councillor Joy Beard told the meeting after 14 years, the government is still getting it wrong, and keeping IS465 is the standard means bad decisions are being made.

She commented that a number of reports are coming back without any reference to pyrrhotite, and that’s a major concern.

She said pyrrhotite and internal sulphate attack are the main problems here, and if that’s not recognised, this is going to remain a serious issue into the future…….
