Meehan unhappy after quizzing HSE officials on recruitment

A member of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum says he remains convinced that the much heralded lifting of the Recruitment Embargo was a PR stunt.

Cllr Declan Meehan was speaking after he quizzed officials on the waiting lists for physiotherapy and home help services in Donegal. He was told that there are 597 people awaiting physiotherapy in the county, 98 of them for more than a year, and 373 people awaiting home help services.

This equates to 2,682 additionally resourced hours per week, with the officials saying that as it stands, all HSE rosters are at full capacity.

In neither case was any commitment given to recruit more personnel.

Cllr Meehan says people’s needs are not being met…………..
