Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty has clashed in the Dail with Minister Roderick O’Gorman over the continued use of the Accommodation Recognition Payment, whereby landlords who house Ukranian refugees are paid €800 per month for each person, regardless of their income or employment status.
Deputy Doherty, the Sinn Fein Finance Spokeperson, has been arguing this is unfair, and places other renters at a disadvantage, and says the government ignored a number of amendments which were suggested by his party to address the situation.
He hit back when Minister O’Gorman claimed Sinn Fein had not suggested any alternatives…………….
