DIGI calls for Budget 2025 tax cut to save rural pubs


The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland is calling for a significant reduction in excise tax on drinks in the upcoming Budget 2025.

The group argues that this would provide immediate relief to thousands of rural Irish businesses struggling with rising costs.

A recent report found that an average of 114 pubs have closed annually since 2005, with rural pubs being particularly affected.

The say that a reduced excise tax would help to improve the viability and growth of the drinks and hospitality sector.
