Glenveagh Castle to shut two days a week

Glenveagh Castle is to close to tours on Mondays and Fridays from the 1st of June, with the exception of bank holidays.

Councillor Michael Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig stated that staffing issues have been cited by the government as the reason for the move.

However, he argues that more should have been done to keep the tourist attraction open, particularly given ongoing efforts to recover visitor numbers following the pandemic.

Councillor Mac Giolla Easbuig added that it is particularly concerning that this announcement comes during a public consultation:

The National Park including the information desk at the Castle will remain open on Mondays and Fridays along with all other services including the Gardens, Visitor Centre & Shuttle bus services.
