The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare and Letterkenny-based Optum boss Brian Thompson in New York has been indicted on a federal murder charge.
26-year-old Luigi Mangione is suspected of shooting the insurance chief executive outside a hotel in December.
The charge, returned by a grand jury in federal court, is a necessary step for prosecutors to seek the death penalty.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty.
