New national record for Mona McSharry in Indiana

Sligo native Mona McSharry, who trains out of Marlin’s Swimming Club in Ballyshannon, set a new national record in her 200 metre breaststroke heat at the World Aquatics World Cup in Indiana last night.

McSharry then went on to finish 5th in the final.

Ellen Walshe picked up bronze in the 200-metres butterfly.

The Templeogue swimmer also smashed the Irish short course record, clocking in at 2 minutes 5.7 seconds.

Both swimmers are back in the pool later today.
