Professional boxing will come to Ballybofey and Stranorlar for the first time later this month when the Fight Night At The Valley, promoted by Jason Quigley of Sheer Sports, will be staged at the Finn Valley Centre on February 21.
There will be eight pro bouts plus two exhibition bouts.
On Monday, the promoter, Donegal’s former world middleweight title challenger Jason Quigley, hosted a press launch for the event which takes place on Saturday 21st February, and he revealed that it is already a sell-out.
Quigley is hoping to run a number of similar events during the year and sees this as a platform for young, rising boxers to get invaluable experience and to put Donegal well and truly on the map.
The Fight Night at the Valley will see a number of local boxers.
These include Raphoe Boxing Club graduate Danny Duffy (3-0) who will return to action after a points win over Ricky Starkey in an exciting clash at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny in October.
The super-bantamweight will clash with Lakshmy Zaragoza on what is his first scheduled six rounder on the Fight Night At the Valley card.
Also in action will be Strabane’s Cathal McLaughlin (20), an Irish amateur title winner, and Kildare’s Aodhan Byrne, whose family hails from Ballybofey. This will be his first pro fight.
