The Electoral Office of Northern Ireland has confirmed that Julie Middleton has been co-opted as the new Democratic Unionist Party MLA for Foyle.
This follows the resignation of her husband, Gary Middleton.
Mr Middleton said his resignation was to deal with significant mental health issues.
Julie Middleton has been a councillor representing the Faughan DEA on Derry City and Strabane District Council since May 2023.
