Tara Rose Smith has qualified for Saturday’s semi finals of the 800m at the European Under18 Championships in Italy.
The Finn Valley athlete clocked 2:08.72 at the Stadio Raul Guidobaldi to finish second in her heat and progress to the next stage.
She was beaten by Léa Eid from France (2:08.68) while she edged out Turkey’s Elif Beyza Kokcuoglu (2:08.77) on the home stretch.
