Donegal’s Ethan Dewhirst, who runs for Tir Chonaill AC had a great run to finish fifth at the World Under-20 athletics championships in Oregan in the United States.
Running from the inside lane, he clocked 51.05 seconds in the men’s 400m hurdles final. The race was won by Michal Rada of Czechia in a superb 48.59.
Dewhirst was second in the first round while in the semi-finals he ran 50.53 to finish third and book his place in the final.
