The costs associated with Transition Year are prompting some families to withdraw their children from elements of the programme.
Research commissioned by St Vincent de Paul found prices for the year could reach up to 4 hundred and seventy euro, excluding the traditional TY trip.
The charity is calling for more support for students to help meet the costs of transition year.
