The HSE’s Regional Health Forum has been told the new 110-bed Community Nursing Unit in Letterkenny is in the final stages of construction, and it is anticipated that practical completion will be achieved before the end of the year.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle was told the Director of Nursing and other senior posts have already been appointed, and will begin work next month to support the commissioning of the new facility.
Interviews are currently taking place for all other staff grades, with the facility to open on a phased basis with an initial 25 beds this year, followed by the opening of more beds next year on a phased basis.
