Finnbarr Roarty signs with AFL club Collingwood

Finnbarr Roarty has signed a rookie contract with AFL team Collingwood.

The Naomh Conaill youngster has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Melbourne outfit, who are one of the biggest AFL teams in Australia.

Roarty won the Young Footballer of the Year award for his performances at inter-county level for Donegal in 2025 and has been a major part of his club’s journey to this weekend’s Donegal Senior Football Championship Final against St. Eunan’s.

It is expected the 20-year-old will leave Ireland for Australia after this Sunday’s decider.

It’s the second high-profile young player leaving the GAA for the AFL this summer as Mayo All-Ireland winner Kobe McDonald also signed down under with St. Kilda’s after lifting the Sam Maguire back in July.
