Nicky Rackard Cup quarter-final result: Monaghan 3-14 (23) v Donegal 4-14 (26)
Donegal have reached the quarter-final of the Nicky Rackard Cup after a nervy performance away to Monaghan.
At half-time, they led by a single point: Monaghan 1-6 (9) v 1-7 (10) Donegal.
Donegal extended their lead considerably in the second half and, 20 minutes into the second half, led by 11 points on a score of Monaghan 1-10 (13) v 4-12 (24) Donegal.
But Monaghan were allowed to get back into the game and Donegal were holding on with only a single point separating the sides when the full-time whistle sounded.
Donegal knocked Monaghan out of the Nicky Rackard Cup three times in the last four years, including in 2013, when Donegal won the final.
The victors now play Mayo in the semi-final in two weeks’ time.
