There are calls for fire fighters on Donegal’s Islands to be treated equally to those on the main land.
A recent meeting of the county’s Islands Committee was told that fire personal on the islands should be paid a retainer fee similar to most of those on the mainland.
The issue was raised by Councillor Michael Colm Mac Giolla Easbuig who was told that there are no plans to change the status quo but was told a meeting of various groups would be held on the issue.
The councillor is hopeful of a resolution…………
