Pete Donegan loses European masters singles last 16 match to former professional Darren Morgan

Pete Donegan’s progress in the masters singles at the European Snooker Championships in Lithuania came to an end on Thursday when he was defeated 4-1 by the favourite for the event and former professional Darren Morgan of Wales.
The first two frames were shared, and in the third frame Pete was on a break of 53 when he got a bad bounce of the cushion which left him short on the next red and had to play a safety. Darren who was once ranked eight in the world, then went on to win the frame and the next three to run out a 4-1 victor.
In the fifth frame Morgan was on a maximum 147 when he jawed the green on 122.
Pet,e who plays out of the North West Snooker Club in Letterkenny sportingly said after the match “I’ve just lost in the individual event, last 16 to Darren Morgan 4,1. I’ve no complaints. Darren missed the green on a Max in the 5th frame, hard luck on that Darren. Best of luck for the rest of the tournament. I’ll try and get re-focused now for team event on Saturday.”
Pete and his Ireland playing partner Nigel Power will take on Scotland in the team semi final on Saturday at 10am Irish time.
