It’s emerged that referrals to the children’s and adolescents’ addiction counselling service in Donegal have been suspended with immediate effect.
Depuity Pearse Doherty says GPs in Donegal have received letters from the HSE informing them that the counselling post became vacant last week.
He says the suspension of counselling services for under 18s in the county is nothing short of ‘deplorable’, and is demanding serious answers from both the Minister and the HSE as to why this was allowed happen.
Deputy Doherty says he understands the HSE had been aware for a number of months now that this vacancy would occur, but as of yet, nothing has been done to appoint a successor.
Deputy Doherty says it’s a serious situation, with no contingency plan in place……….
