There were 28 people awaiting admission to Letterkenny University Hospital this morning according to the latest figures from the INMO.
16 of those are on trolleys in its Emergency Department while a further 12 are in overflow areas or wards.
University Hospital Galway is the most overcrowded with 34 people in need of a bed while nationally a total of 440 people are waiting to be admitted to hospitals around the country.
In early September, Minister for Health Simon Harris and the Heath Service Executive announced a new winter initiative.
Under the plan, from today – the 1st of December overcrowding cannot exceed 236 patients on any single day.
