Delays in approving Domicilliary Care Payments has been criticised by the Leas Cheann Comhairle.
Donegal Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher received confirmation from Minister Finian McGrath that it is now taking an average of 18 weeks to process payments.
Staffing issues had been blamed for the dealy in processing applications, it is now believed that some progress has been made in appointing extra staff to deal with the backlog.
