Serious concerns have been raised over the impact plans by An Post will have on rural Donegal and elsewhere.
There are fears that if new contracts proposed by management of An Post are implemented, it could lead to a significant number of post offices closed in the coming years.
Donegal Spokesperson for the Irish Natura & Hill Farmers Association Seanie Boyle says farmers in particular rely heavily on post office services.
However he’s warning that potential closures would see a domino effect on the economy generally in rural towns:
