The PSNI has confirmed that the search for missing Lifford man David Colhoun is to be widened.
In a statement the family, through the police, thanked everyone for the assistance in the search to date.
David, who is 22, has been missing since last Sunday week.
The PSNI say extensive land and water searches have been carried out to locate David and confirm that the search area will widen in the days ahead.
Foyle Search and Rescue and Community Rescue Service will continue to search the river and its banks, under the direction of the PSNI, until David is found the Police says they will continue to liaise with their colleagues in An Garda Siochana.
Police have reassured the family that they will continue to respond to fresh information and offer assistance and support where they can.
In the statement, David’s father Joe and the family expressed their thanks to everyone involved in the search to date.
They say they are extremely appreciative of the efforts of police, An Garda Siochana, the rescue teams and all the volunteers.
The public are advised to contact police should they come across anything that would be helpful in the search for David.
